From version 11.5.3 Midori Browser will discontinue support for the Firefox Sync feature, the decision was influenced by the following points:
-
Security and privacy: As you know Mozilla services contain Telemetry and not only that, the inclusion of Google technology for the storage of information makes us question and have doubts about the service, for this reason we have decided to discontinue.
- Preparation for Astian Accounts: As we have announced in previous posts, this step is a preparation for the operation of Astian Accounts, a privacy-friendly, open source service without any telemetry.
- Deployment of a productivity and control center for users: Astian Cloud is going to become the control center for users, where they can store their passwords, bookmarks, contacts, notes, calendars, news feed, all open source, privacy friendly with no telemetry and much more.
- Performance and Speed: Due to all the telemetry, invasive access and integration of Firefox Sync in all the code, this directly affects performance and security, by disabling it the Midori Browser gained between 20 and 30% in performance, speed and fluidity.
We appreciate the support of our users.
