Midori 11.2 Sugar all in one

Midori & Puppy Linux

We are in a race, and with a strong competitor that is very hard to beat, which is not Google Chrome, nor Microsoft Edge, Brave or Mozilla, no, that hard-to-beat competitor is us, we ourselves are our fiercest competition because our intention is always offer the best to our users with each update, a few hours ago we launched version 3.5.0 of Midori for Android where we have integrated the sync of history bookmarks and much more. At this time we launch version 11.2 of the lightweight Midori browser with great new features To be more comprehensive and not only cover the field of lightness, version 11.2 has improvements in the performance, privacy and security sections with the firm purpose of offering a comprehensive browser with a great focus on privacy, security and lightness.

Web3 Support (Beta)

Web3 is with us and technological changes are taking the world towards that path. In this version we have added support for this technology in beta phase through:

Browsing on these platforms will not strain Midori or device resources.

Multimedia Support

We know that multimedia consumption through the browser is one of the most important sections today, which is why we have dedicated efforts to improving this section through the following improvements.

  • Improvements in DRM access allowing for smoother streaming viewing.
  • Improvements in the H.265 codecs, this translates into a substantial improvement in the viewing of 4K videos. In each update we will continue to improve this section.
  • Resolution improvements for NVIDIA devices.
  • Support for JPEG XL has been extended and improved.
  • Hardware acceleration in VMware.

Privacy & Security.

Privacy and security are a point that is becoming more and more relevant and we at Midori want to lead the way in promoting a safer and more private website:

  • Only accept HTTPS: to increase navigation security, when users enter a site with HTTP Midori will show them an alert, if users trust they can move forward, if not, we invite users not to visit said website.
  • DoH active by default: A few weeks ago we announced MidoriDNS to promote security and privacy, in this version we activated it by default adding important points in security and privacy, see more information by clicking here.
  • Global Privacy Control is activated.
  • Reduction and dissolution of cookie banners.
  • For Midori on Windows, the trust of executable and installable files has been increased.
  • Definitive stopping of pingsender towards Mozilla, this also influences better and greater performance.

General improvements

Midori’s improvements to its interface are also of great importance and it is an issue that we have improved in this update:

  • Redesign of the download area.
  • Corrections to the layouts and the vertical tabs option.
  • Icon improvements.
  • Improvements to the status bar.
  • Customization improvements in workspaces.
  • Improvements to custom shortcuts.
  • General code cleanup.

MidoriDNS in Midori Browser

MidoriDNS is a managed service with which we provide users with privacy and security. The Midori browser, by integrating this service, allows users privacy controls such as:

  • Native tracker blockers for platforms such as Windows, Apple Samsung, among others.
  • Advertising blockers, (We are still working on perfecting this function but it is active and although it does not block all ads we are working to achieve this goal.
  • Increased privacy, the internet provider will not know what you are doing or what you are browsing as long as you use the Midori browser.
  • Among other options detailed on the MidoriDNS page https://astian.org/midori-dns

MidoriDNS is a free service within the Midori browser, but for those users who want to integrate all their devices, computer, smart watch, laptop, TV router and all devices there are subscription plans from 0.99 to 1.99 per month, see the price site here.
