We continue our streak of updates, and today, the last one of June, Midori Browser 11.8.2 arrives with significant improvements and interesting new features in performance, privacy, New Tab, Adblock, workspaces, the graphical interface, and more. This update builds upon the Midori 11.8.1 version, refining the graphical interface, fluidity, and accessibility.
Midori 11.8.2 New Midori Privacy (AdBlock)
Our Midori Privacy ad blocker has received a major update, switching its engine to Rust + WebAssembly (WASM) for improved performance. Benefits of the new version:
- Filtering speed: analyzes thousands of rules, comparing each HTTP request,
- Fewer runtime interpretations
- Less JavaScript engine overhead.
- Better CPU utilization
- Greater safety as buffer overflow is avoided.
- Reducing CPU, RAM, and Garbage Collection also reduces and improves energy consumption.
- Previous versions had a significant loading delay; now there is better site loading, fewer freezes, and smoother navigation.
Midori New Tab
Performance, integration, and accessibility improvements, These are some of the improvements with the New Tab, list of improvements:
- It is now possible to upload images from any directory on the user’s computer.
- Midori now communicates with our marketplace, where you can download unique wallpapers, new widgets, mods, and more.
General improvements, performance and security.
- Fixed an issue on Windows where Midori could become unresponsive when using the back and forward buttons.
- Fixed an issue where Midori could fall back to software rendering on some older GPUs, reducing graphics performance.
- Fixed a crash on Windows that could occur when Midori interacted with accessibility services.
- Fixed an issue where some text input fields could incorrectly show a resize handle.
- Fixed an issue where selecting or pasting text in a text field inside a table cell could disrupt the page layout.
