Midori Browser arrives 11.6.1

We haven’t released an update for a little over 8 months. This is because we’re studying the best strategy to face the evolution of the web. We studied it so much that we’ve decided to completely change our development model, and now, starting with version 11.6.1, we’ll be using the latest version of Gecko/Firefox to offer the best and most up-to-date user experience. This is thanks to our Amelia, which is responsible for monitoring when a version is available and automating the entire update and deployment process at the development level, increasing our performance and considerably reducing the time since we no longer have to maintain all the code. Now we can focus on improving and integrating our code, Astian code, and making changes and integrations that improve privacy and the user experience, We have detailed this entire process in this work plan.

Performance Profiles

One of Midori’s pillars is to be lightweight and have the highest possible performance, and we’ve improved Midori for that, but also for more. Now, AI or gaming enthusiasts with resources can run a special mode to get the most out of their resources (processor, graphics, etc.). It’s the only browser that has this option and with WebGPU support.

Without temporary integration

We have temporarily deactivated the following:

• Sidebar
• Workspace
• Tabs Private
• WebApps
• Themes
• Vertical Tabs

These features have been temporarily disabled; however, we will be improving and integrating these features in future updates.

Custom Theme

Midori now includes 6 default themes.

Custom Toolbar

We want to take customization to another level, which is why we give users the option to customize the colors of their toolbar and the entire browser.

Search Engine

The user has 3 default search engine options: AstianGO (its own search engine with its own index, no advertising, no tracking, and no dependence on Big Tech), Wikipedia, and the French search engine Qwant.
